Since Monday, the first work day of November, it came to my coworkers and I’s attention that…. Well the bathrooms were not getting restocked with toilet paper in our building… Yesterday I wandered the building looking for a bathroom with toilet paper and finally found one that had one stall with maybe a quarter of a roll tops… When I checked later on it was gone…

I had to bring toilet paper from home because apparently the freaking building ran out. They also apparently can't buy anymore šŸ¤¦šŸ¼ā€ā™‚ļø and my office still wants us to come in. Our operations director said she ā€œwould complain about it for usā€ but honestly wtf.

I understand some of those congressional bills are thousands of pages long to accommodate all the pork funding. Just a suggestion šŸ˜€

Seems odd the suppliers wouldn't continue to supply the building. I mean a gov contract is a lucrative thing. You don't want to lose that for the sake of not getting paid for a month or two. More likely whoever fills the dispensers or orders the product is not working. Is the building still getting cleaned?

reply

My current understanding is that yeah the number of cleaners has fallen this month down to just 3 for the whole building but I have also heard that the government contracts for some things are paid month to month so in Oct. they didnt get paid and so its creating a ton of issues and questions on if they will get paid for the last month. People currently working these jobs and others at the cafeteria they do not get automatic backpay because they are contractors. Its unclear if they would since Congress would have to pass a new bill.

reply

Are you being paid?

reply

Nope! Eventually I will get backpay once Th government reopens but I’ve already missed one paycheck.
