A lot will be made out of the big election wins last night and while yes these wins are significant the bigger underlying theme is that these votes were not necessarily in favor for the person they were voting for... it was just a vote against Trump.
That is not a long term success strategy and something that fades as quickly as it forms. Virginia in particular has been hurt most by the government shut down. Once it reopens it would be interesting to see how that would have affected the election.
I'm not surprised by the election results but the theme emerging from it is as more if not more important for the Republican Party than the Democratic Party. Democrats still do not have a leader. Republicans do....
So do you think the shutdown will end soon. Now that the election is over. I think it's very likely the main reason the Democrats refused to make a deal.
The shutdown will end. It's really a question of when.

After the results I dont think it will end this week like most people expected just yesterday. Now the Dems can feel like the people have given them a mandate to fight Trump and the admin

So they fight Trump by being at least half the reason why SNAP benefits aren't being paid and other dependent on the state aren't getting the help they are enslaved by?
Its really absurd to me. I'm not on either team and stuff like this is a big reason why. Instead working it out both parties want to pin it on the other. Or Trump. It's still surprises me how dumb the public actually is about this stuff. Of all people the Democrats and their voters should be making a deal. Then in the next election they can "take back power" from scary orange man.
Does it never cross the average voters mind that maybe, just maybe they should think about those that vote the other way. And how we can live side by side with them instead of trying to us democracy to put a boot in their face?
Nah, just vote harder. They rig districts over there, well do it here! We get what we deserve I guess. Not a pretty future

Very thankful my faith is not in any of this madness. Thankful for my Lord, church, community, family, and bitcoin.

Trump is not doing himself or the Republicans any favors

I'm legit upset about this (as upset as I can be about politics, haha)
I think Trump entered office with a pretty easy mandate, but he had to go send troops into cities and start bombing boats without warrant...
reply
The mandate was always going to be iffy in the Senate just because of needing 60 votes for things.
I will say the National Guard has been really really helpful in DC. The police department here is already stretched thin.

In the Prairie State, where Rep. Mikie Sherrill (D-N.J.) defeated former New Jersey General Assembly member Jack Ciattarelli (R) for governor,
New Jersey is known as the Prairie State? I always think of it as the land of rotting cities.
