Hi frens 🤠
Oh, Halloween came and went, and I’m still buzzing about it! It’s such a spooky yet heartwarming season for me. I just love the candy, the chocolate, the eerie ambiance, and of course, the excuse to wear a costume. I just love it! ♥️
🎥 I’m a lucky girl because I got to watch a full Halloween movie marathon! Yay!
🚨Disclaimer: there will be a few spoilers from the movies we watched: Halloween (1978), The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2022), Child's Play aka Chucky, Jason VIII, Jennifer’s Body, and Subservience (Alice), so heads up!
We started picking each movie as we went. My first choice was Halloween, a timeless classic. I’ve seen it many times but not recently, so when my husband said, “It feels like nothing happens in the whole movie, and then he’s just there being creepy,” I couldn’t help but laugh. Still, it’s such a nostalgic must-watch for the season, and I loved revisiting it.
Then it was his turn, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2022). I remembered it being pretty gory and slasher-y, but this time I got mad at the characters. Sure, they were trying to revamp a ghost town into something modern and trendy, but they were so rude to the old lady at the orphanage. She literally died in Leatherface’s arms: the only person who was kind to him! Honestly, I’d be furious too. In a twisted way, it almost felt like a revenge story on gentrification.
During lunch, we had Chucky and Jason VIII playing in the background. We’ve seen them multiple times, so we were just laughing at how ridiculous they are. While Chucky continued to chatter in the background, we played some Monopoly (I won, hehe!).
Don’t think we were total couch potatoes though, we did walk our doggie twice earlier in the day before her big third (of four) walk of the day. She absolutely loved it, but sadly there were no kids out in costumes this year. Same as last year… sigh.
Next up, I picked Jennifer’s Body, because I’d heard so much about it. Let me just say, it did not disappoint! It’s written by Diablo Cody (the same writer as Juno), so you can definitely feel her dry and sharp humor. It’s not particularly flashy, but it’s fun, a little gory, and both Megan Fox and Amanda Seyfried nailed it.
My husband’s next pick was Alice, also featuring Megan Fox. That one turned into a gentle reminder to always be kind to your AI and cautious about what you share with technology. It’s not a masterpiece, but it’s good food for thought and a decent watch to pass the time.
🍬 And that was our Halloween! Candies, chips, and lots of snuggles with our furry kids (who were slightly offended we were watching movies instead of them, haha).
Did you do anything fun for Halloween? Bake a good ol’ pumpkin bread? Sip coffee while enjoying some of your favorite pastry?
I’d love to hear about your Halloween movie recommendations too!
See you later, alligator 🎃🤠
👀 Hehe, since you like Halloween too, you might as well take a peek at my post about it!
