Puzzmo, one of the better online sites for puzzles these days, has been running a series of mini-crosswords this month designed to introduce people to crosswords, with each day adding another concept or theme. Unlike a lot of Puzzmo content, all of these are free, and if you've ever been interested in solving crosswords (especially NYT-style ones with themes and tricky clues), this is a great series to get started with. The Bluesky thread is the best index of the puzzles (using Puzzmo's own calendar sometimes blurs the lines between the intro series and their regular daily puzzles).
