The actual title of this piece was way strong on the clickbait, and overall the article is too breathless and dramatic to be taken that seriously, but there is one point I think it is worth highlighting:
Governments are interested in controlling the internet and they are coordinating around this goal. This year we've seen the UK, Germany, China, Australia and a number of US states step up their attempts to block access to the internet, bring kyc to internet usage, and jail or fine people for internet speech.
Coordination around control of people's access to the internet as described in this article seems like a bad thing and something to which we all ought to pay attention.
