Too bad I didn't see this post before.

I run local account, but yeah micro$oft tries to crack down the practice. I configured my system with wonderful Chris Titus Tech tool to get mostly security updates, and I never got a broken update for an entire year and a half (I also run Endeavour OS alongside, and I mostly use it though).

The thing is, smartphones, be it android or ios, aren't better, and linux smartphones are miles away from being usable for normies. And with recent trend to close OEM unlocking (fuck EU again for their moronic law that corporate shills interpret as they wish), and google's push for blocking sideloading of unverified android apps starting next year prospects are kinda depressing. All for your own security, my ass. Sooner or later, smartphones would be eligible only for smashing into a wall.

Whatever will happen, keep the old hardware.

p.s. I don't recommend ubuntu anymore, their push for rust implementation of coreutils and sudo is moronic at best. The dd not passing checksums was epic. And recent date bug too.
