pull down to refresh

While I have talked about the government shutting down first time was in March, which we avoided, and now with our current shut down what has unfolded is beyond what I ever imagined. If you were going to tell me last month that we were gearing up for the longest government shut down and had already become the longest complete government shut down I would have told you that you were crazy. The worst case scenario that I saw coming was a two week shut down. Long enough to hit federal workers paychecks and the outcry to cause the minority to stand down.
We have blown that out of the water now and the question has shifted in my opinion to what is going to get the Senate Democrats to open up the government. Both sides are dug in and with the House out again this week due to the shut down there is really no room or ability to negotiate. This is also blowing up the full year funding bills that we were expecting to pass by November 21st.
Last week we were informed that if the Senate did not pass the spending bill by Thursday it was unlikely that we would get paid on time (Oct. 31 the last work day of the month) due to the furloughs and the time it would take to spin everything back up. Never did I see this happening I mean after all House Staffers only get paid once a month. Here we are though and now I've already begun moving money to cover bills due the beginning of the next month.
The concern though is if this does not end within the first few days of November when SNAP lapses that we could face a government shut down through November and into December. SNAP benefits are the only off ramp that Senate Dems have and if they do not take it then I have no idea what would be the next thing baring some sort of natural disaster.
Thankfully I had money I can pull from easily this first missed paycheck but after that its going to be me freeing up cash via selling off stocks and crypto. Thank you BTC and years of stacking for giving me quite a nice stack to pull from but at the same time.... wtf Senate Dems you are forcing me to offload my BTC because you backed yourself into a corner and blew up everything on the way.

Yeah, this sucks.
What do you think about this being something both parties seem to choose?
I wrote about this #1251513
The solution he proposes is to pass 12 separate bills.
Like MANY things, over the years it has been my observation that politicians do NOT seek solutions to problems. Not real ones. They seek power by demagoguery. People seeking solutions act very differently. Now, there are many ways to justify what politicians do, I just don't buy it anymore. There are a few that probably are sincere. Or maybe more are sincere and just know that there isn't enough people acting in good faith to do things the right way.
But really, the government shutdowns through the past show me that this is a joke and if it were really a problem either party wanted to solve it would be solved. Its a tool to use like most things. Those that suffer are the people that work for the government and those dependent on government services. For me, I want to see the world as it is and live to solve these problems for myself and those I care for. That means I need to insulate myself as much as I can where I can.
I'm not defending the Democrats. They are terrible. But I don't feel very different about the other side.
Incidentally, I worked in a government funded job many years ago and was in a similar situation. Back then it was the red team "responsible" for it.
It was one of many reasons why I left that job. Wasn't the main one. The main was that I wanted to be in the free market, not the state controlled one.

I'm pretty confident that all hell is going to break loose when SNAP benefits don't get paid. That will begin on November 1st, right?

This is pretty wild. Seems like 35 days is the record but that was over the holidays, so maybe it shouldn't count full strength.
