Measured in gdp per capita, the UK was neck to neck with the US from the dawn of the millennium and at its peak was ahead of the US.
Weird enough, the brits seem to worry more about whatever Trump is doing than whatever happens in their own charming island.
Non-tradeable goods were more expensive in the UK though, which makes GDP per capita the wrong metric. You have to make an adjustment for purchasing power parity.
