BRICS do a lot of meetings but dont get around to actually doing very much, but it might happen, who knows. i can imagine the tweet storm from Trump if they did !

I think they each want the option to try to screw over each other by manipulating the terms of trade.

While i dont like Putin, im surprised it has taken them this long, they've been fucking about doing deals in gold for a while, i remember reading, but btc is far easier.
Of course, it will feed a negative narrative in the West, but nothing new there.
