Shell is definitely still here and this happened today. It’s not that Shell is accepting Bitcoin though. You can now use money badger to pay with bitcoin to any zapper QR code. SA is WAY more advanced than Texas, TN, and other places in this regard…
It’s not keeping the money as local as a business actually accepting bitcoin, but it makes it easy to live on a bitcoin standard.

Noted, thanks! I've used the zapper payment with bitcoin before and I recently tested out the payfast one too!
Yeah, makes it a lot easier, doing it through bitrefill was a pain before and vouchers aren't always practical for some purchases! If you're self custodial you living the dream with all this onboarding by moneybadger thats for sure
Wonder how the settlement is done in the backend, pretty sure none of these big players are keen on treasuries right now and just want the cash

This is via the MoneyBadger app. So if the garage has Scan to Pay or Zapper it will likely work.
I paid at Engine just the other day. Apparently many Total and some Sasol garages support it too, but I haven't tried them yet. BP seems to be the odd one out, haven't heard of anyone having success there yet.
