I still believe that humanity is awesome. Just I don't believe that we're very good at defending ourselves against getting exploited as a group.

Alone people are weak and vulnerable. You cannot have free markets without law and order. It is in groups that we exploit others and protect our own interests. eg USA and all empires before it.
The nation state and its power projection capacity is a major factor in the wealth of nations and their citizens. If you don't like government you are free to go off and live in the forest. But you won't because you are not insane or suicidal. Are you?
