Having a total shitshow of a day since my 6am because I volunteered to solve a problem for a former client last night and today, after I finished investigation, there was no technical problem but a user issue, which, even though "the problem was solved", didn't result in my compensation. I'm very much pissed off rn.
On the bright side, my grandfather always said that you may drink "if there's a 5 in the clock". I'm of the opinion that I may open my bottle of ruby port at 5 minutes to 3 - in 10 minutes from now.

fun fact: I also had in the past a technical intervention like this, that ended up with "oh it was just the power cable unplugged...". But they paid me just for plugging the cable.
But then the guys started a company and kept me around as their "IT guy". After some years the company get bigger and they start paying me in BTC.
So don't be upset that today you weren't paid... find the opportunity to keep them paying you. And better be in sats.

... I volunteered ... didn't result in my compensation
that is right! Ahahha. I always thought volunteering was unpaid!
... but a user issue, ...
I feel you. Story of my life.

Volunteering is stupid. Being nice is a pain in the butt. My error for feeling sorry. I now have a few weeks to decide whether I'm going to send a reminder for the invoice they NAK'd within minutes of me sending it, or just let it be.
reply
Just call that a learning cost and let it go. If that client comes back, you already know what you gotta do: tell him it's X bucks an hour. ahhhha

If that client comes back they will first have to pay this invoice. lol

shameful! They're ruining their whole reputation for barely anything.
Working your whole life just to 'enjoy' a few years when you're close to death is one of the biggest scams...

I had the same thought some years ago. So I decided to stop "working" for others and start working for me (I was 50yrs old). My goal is live the rest of my life as a long vacation.
you need to have balls to do that
reply

All currencies are based on trust, and trust is give by different factors. In the case of US, it is given by world coverage. Custom Tariffs may reduce the interational transactions, reducing also the usage of USD. This means that it may affect the value against other currencies, including gold and BTC. We´ve already faced Eras of protectionism in the last 2 centuries, but never, with a global currency like BTC that is the thermometer of the situation. This is a new scenario for BTC.

Happiness Journal 15/10/25
In a previous life, I enthusiastically volunteered students for overseas trips to satisfy my craving for travel. Best of all, I barely had any competition, so I could travel to my heart’s content.
Today, in a similar vein, I eagerly volunteered to chaperone the international students for their learning journey to Gardens by the Bay. There, I was greeted by a passionate facilitator named Joyce. Anyone can tell that she loves what she does because she not only peppered her script with items that she had bought from Daiso, but also, involved students in a demonstration that showcased her home-made props. Did you know that cacti have ridges to increase the surface area in which they can absorb water with? Well, I was today years old when I learnt that.
My circumstances might have changed, but my yearning to see the world remains intact. I take it as an antidote against the ravages of time.
世界这么大,我想去看看。
