Demonstrations erupted in the former French colony on September 25 over water and electricity shortages, but quickly spiraled into an uprising over broader grievances, including corruption, poor governance, and a lack of basic services.
Their frustrations are understandable. But I doubt that whoever they put into positions of leadership are going to be able to solve the problems without brutal military crackdowns.
