I'm a big proponent of using email instead of texting, for many reasons. It's more portable and potentially private, it's much easier to generate new emails than it is phone numbers, it's easier to send emails to many more people, it's easier to use on different devices.
In my opinion, there's TONS of reasons to favor email instead of texting.
However, gradually over the past...maybe 10 years - it seems like almost everyone is switching to text only, at least in the US. (That's unless they're using something like messenger or WhatsApp).
Why is this? And what do you folks think about this?
You kind of need to follow the crowd, to communicate with people, so I'm mostly also texting, to communicate with friends (at least locally).

Why is email potentially more private?

For texting you need a phone number. I don't know of any way to get a non-kyc phone number.
And therefore it's much easier to use different emails for different parts of your life. And you can use email services like protonmail, which is much more private (though no guarantees).
