Opening and Technical Issues

The episode starts with audio glitches and a recap of the previous week's recording mishap, where interesting discussions (e.g., Survivor Pool and fantasy football) weren't revisited. They commit to hyping their community contests more.

MLB Playoffs

  • Current game: Brewers lead Cubs 2-1 in the bottom of the sixth (later updated to Brewers winning 3-1, advancing to NLCS vs. Dodgers).
  • Series updates: Blue Jays beat Yankees in 4; Mariners beat Tigers in 5 (hosts discuss the dramatic 15-inning Game 5, rule debates like hit-by-pitch on a bunt attempt, and personal stories, e.g., an 18-inning Blue Jays game).
  • Predictions: Hosts expect a competitive ALCS (Blue Jays vs. Mariners), favoring Blue Jays due to hitting and home-field advantage but giving Mariners a pitching edge. NLCS (Dodgers vs. Brewers) favors Dodgers. They speculate on a potential Dodgers-Blue Jays World Series; one host plans to attend if Blue Jays advance.
  • Fun facts: Blue Jays and Mariners entered MLB together in 1977; hosts share old ticket stories and playoff excitement.
  • Community tie-in: Hosts manage MLB series pools on Pool Zap and Predicts markets (e.g., series outcomes, liquidity discussions, trading strategies). They review their picks and profits/losses.

Community Contests and "Territory" Updates

  • MLB pools: Finalizing setups for championship series; reviewing participant picks (no sweeps, varied series lengths).
  • Cricket (Krixzap): Shoutout to user "coins" for running a year-long contest; hosts admit they're struggling (one in last place among regulars) but aim for "jumbos" in the final month. Discussion of strategies, Canadian cricket matches, and monthly prizes.
  • Soccer: UEFA/Europa on hold; host references a "2-1, 1-0" strategy from a follow-up post.
  • General: Encouragement to join contests; mentions Predicts market extensions for long games.

NFL and Football Discussion

  • Survivor Pool: Hosts review Week 5 chaos (e.g., Cardinals' bizarre loss to Titans via fumble recoveries and dropped balls at the goal line, compared to "Holy Roller"). Many eliminations (e.g., on Rams/Cardinals); 5 players remain strike-free. Week 6 picks mostly on Packers; one host picks Raiders in a separate pool for secondary prizes (most right/wrong picks).
  • Game recaps: Cardinals' meltdown, Eagles' embarrassment by Giants (praise for Giants' effort and young talent like Darton and Thibodeau). Chiefs' struggles (2-3 record, injuries to Jones and Rice).
  • Injuries and trades: 49ers' woes (e.g., Kittle, Pearsall out); Bucks also banged up. Hosts discuss pickle juice theories for 49ers' injuries and potential edge rusher acquisitions.
  • Fantasy Football: One host's all-49ers team is thriving despite injuries; the other is decimated (e.g., missing Purdy, Worthy). Trades, waivers (e.g., Cole Kmet), and opponent notes (e.g., one rival autodrafted and hasn't managed their team).
  • Cross-Off: Raiders unanimously eliminated as a contender (poor special teams, injuries); Giants safe for now due to promise. Potential future cross-offs: Panthers, Bengals, Ravens, Cardinals.
  • Other: Mentions Chad Powers Hulu series, betting rules (e.g., avoid Kyler Murray games, divisional road Thursday nights).

Other Sports and Wrap-Up

  • NBA 2017 Redraft: Sixers repick (originally Markelle Fultz); hosts select Jason Tatum #1 (fits with Embiid/Simmons), Donovan Mitchell #2, Bam Adebayo #3. Deep draft with players like De'Aaron Fox, Derrick White, Josh Hart. Speculate on alternate Sixers roster (e.g., with Jokic/Brown from prior drafts).
  • Hockey: Leafs lose 6-3 to Red Wings; McDavid's 2-year extension. Brief Predicts market on Leafs (hosts haven't gone heavy on "no" shares yet).
  • Miscellaneous: NBA preseason (Raptors win over Kings); Bam Adebayo dating A'ja Wilson (speculation on potential athletic offspring). Super Bowl Predicts market (Bills at 19%, 49ers at ~90% but hosts won't bid up yet).
  • Closing: Excitement for NBA tip-off next week; invitation to join "the territory" contests and follow on Fountain. Hosts plan to edit for brevity and continue football talk next episode.
The episode is enthusiastic and meandering, blending sports analysis, personal stories, and community promotion. Total runtime implied to be lengthy, with hosts noting off-topic tangents.

Out of town hanging out with family, so probably don't have time to listen to it today. Try to listen it on Monday when I get back home.

Canadian Thanksgiving this weekend, so we drove to the Land of the Free to visit family, go on a hike, and also shoot some guns. I guess it counts as international travel.

Now that TNF is usually pretty good, Europe games have become the games you would rather be cleaning toilets than watching.

Took a chance and just posted it without listening back.

You didn't want to stay up another two hours?
