@siggy47, is this true?

I never noticed my relatives from your neck of the woods pronouncing these differently.

reply

I pronounce those three words differently. I'm shocked that everyone doesn't. I'm from New York, so my way must be correct.

Mary rhymes with hairy.
Marry rhymes with carry.
Merry rhymes with berry.

However they pronounce it elsewhere is wrong. Dammit.

reply

Those three words all rhyme with each other!

I know so many people from that area. It's blowing my mind that I can't hear the differences.

reply

You're kidding, right? You genuinely believe all three words rhyme?

reply

I can't even imagine them being pronounced differently.

I'll have to ask my mom when I see her later today.

reply

This is astounding to me too.

Mary and merry are the same, marry is different

Is that the Amish?

reply

My tax dollars went to fund this?

reply

Lol, I just say them all like 'MURRY' and call it a day. Who’s got time to make them distinct?

reply

From the southeast. Definitely pronounce all the same. Haha.

reply

Google Voice makes it sound like there's a difference between them.
