In a recent update, @Alby made it very easy to view your aggregate routing data and I've really enjoyed checking in on it from time to time.
Here's how my little routing node has done since that update:
  • Sats routed: 17.6M
  • Transactions routed: 1.6k
  • Routing fees earned: 2.4k sats
I'm pretty consistently averaging about 10k sat routed transactions at a fee of around 1.5 sats.
I know there are likely other nodes in many of these transactions, but that's still a crazy cheap financial service.
Where does one see this?

At the bottom of the home page in "stats for nerds"

NIce, i've earned 7 sats lol

Most of mine seem to come from my channel with coinos
reply
Cool! I don’t use mine for routing so it’s not as interesting
reply
I'm not really trying to earn sats by routing, but I was interested in trying to use routing fees to keep my channels balanced.
Mixed success so far

Do you do any channel management or just let it run?
reply
Pretty minimal
I have a very simple adjustment pattern that I use when I see significant routing activity and I've opened a few channels when my overall inbound/outbound liquidity got unbalanced.

does alby hub provide some sort of automatic fee updating to encourage traffic ? like lightning terminal
reply
I don't think so. Until very recently, they discouraged people from using their Alby Hubs for routing.
I suspect they'll offer something like that soon though.

im a big fan of the LDK lightnode...I love that it comes with a on-chain 12 word seed phrase so you can use it for lots of things (obviously I only have some spending money in that wallet). similar to how one could use electrum wallet for opening lightning channels but instead using the LDK lightnode on my start9...lightning node is on all the time.

I'm sure there are better setups for this.
I basically defaulted into Alby Hub when they transitioned everyone away from GetAlby and so much of my online stuff was connected to that.

Coinos is good.

i want control of my keys
reply
Yes, do that for your L1 sats for sure but with LN, not so much is at stake.
The convenience and very low fees of Coinos are hard to beat.

it is true, however i have 3 small balanced private channels on my albyhub lightnode, fees are basically zero for sends, and i can receive no problem. So, with a little work up front there is no need to give up my keys.
Coinos is even lower cost to use. And easier. Especially for use on SNs as most small transactions on Coinos are fees free.

Running a node with AlbyHub has noting to do with, and is far away comparable with what you suggest.
Coinos charges a percentage of the transaction on top of the network fees.
reply
Nonsense- Coinos charges nothing at all on most lower value transactions.
I sent 1666 sats the other day- Zero fees and zero percentage deducted.
Stop spreading lies.
'Amount 1,666 $3.52 Network fee 0 $0.00 Exchange rate 1 Bitcoin = $211,026 474 = $1'
Note- My wallet set to New Zealand dollars.
reply
Do you know why it charged zero fees?
If not, start reading the Lightning Network for Dummies, then we talk.
