I moved this orchid from water submersion to chunky soil in this pitcher my grandmother used to pour gravy from. Mosquitoes were multiplying in the still water, so had to change that up. And lo! A new stem! A new bud!

Fusilli is my favorite pasta shape. I don't know why, it just seems pretty good at everything.

If we're talking about stuffed pasta, then Agnolotti is by far the best pasta I've ever tried, there's something about the texture, and the warmth of it that can't be topped.

My favorite pasta dish is Fusilli with bell pepper pesto, it's really awesome (and the shape can also be Rigatoni or Penne rigate).

I have to say though, I don't like pasta. Ate it too many times, it got old.

Ah, nice. I think my favorite pasta shape is Campanelle, kinda like Fusilli. Probably because it has a lot of surface area to hold sauce with.

I'm not sure what my favorite sauces or toppings are though.

They're so cool! They have a really particular shape with many benefits, I also like finding them in mixed pasta when I do pasta with borlotti beans.

I looked up from my sci notes and shot my son a random question, “Why do we choke when we talk while eating?”

To my immense surprise, he said something to the effect of food going down the tube meant for talking. Isn’t that the correct answer, even if he didn’t use the terms “gullet” and “windpipe”?

“How did you know this?!” I asked, my jaw dropped as if pulled by a formidable force below. It turned out that his kindergarten teacher had taught him that during a lesson on the human body.

I’m tickled pink by the comprehensiveness of early childhood education these days.

Oh, they know, for sure. But they're pros at putting on a whole show that says otherwise. They're more out in the open before the election, and that's when you see they actually understand.
