I am usually pretty good about not being scammed, but recently, I was bait and switched into a subscription.
What I thought was a one-time payment turned out to be a 39 euro monthly subscription, which i immediately cancelled, after the initial rape.
Like most scams, there was no mention of any subscription, just something tiny in small print, and what got me was rushing.
Was being rushed by a client and had a boring-ass task when I realized that if I could use a bulk tool, I could make it 10x faster (it was a pdf file splitter). So in a rush, I clicked the first one, then when promoted for a $1 payment to use the software, i thought fuck it, and was in a rush, so didn't even bother to use a one-time use debit card.
The tool also failed to do the job, and I ended up having to do it manually anyway, and I need to remind myself to slow down. The only other time i was scammed, it was for something similar in 2009 or something, except it was buy this training for 5 bucks only, but back then, I wasn't checking my account all the time, until one day i went to take some money out, and it was empty was devastating at the time.
Any of you stackers fallen for something like that?
