And vibe them for you, because what the hell do you know about what other people want anyway?

We've entered a phase of world history where basic cognitive skill has become a commodity. You don't have to think, because you just let GPT do the thinking for you; in thinking mode. You don't have to do research, you just ask GPT to do the research for you, in research mode. You don't have to code, you just tell GPT to code for you, in codex mode. But you know what's really boring? Chatting with a fucking bot. And then you still gotta do all the boring, repetitive work on top.
So then what? Let's build an app, get rich, sit back and chill! Boring! And you're not going to get rich talking to GPT because everyone, their mom in law and their dog is talking to GPT. You can make an app now? Awesome, so can everyone else. You have no moat using a bot to do dumbass shit for you and then trying to sell it to people that can just ask GPT to build it themselves. And being rich is overrated anyway. Purpose is the game.
Let's assume that in 6 months from now you're still alive. This future self of yours is an ignorant lazy bastard who doesn't give a shit about your genius today, just like you are right now versus yourself 6 months ago. So fuck your idea. Don't waste your time on vibe coding the next big thing you just masturbated on your screen that you then have to sell to others. There is no market for ideas anymore because any fool can do it. What is there then, you ask? Making shit easy. Everything is now bespoke, and guess what else is bespoke? Your problems.
If you're set on vibe coding something, vibe together something that solves a problem for you, right now. Something that bothers the fuck out of you; I'm sure you have it, we all do. If you cannot pinpoint the frustration whatever thing you were just vibing is going to take away within 200 ms, leave it, it probably sucks. If it could take away pain, build a tool that takes it away, forever. Pain-b-gone.
Don't try to fix what is slowing me down, or what is slowing your buddy Jim down, fuck charity, it never works anyway. You fix what slows you down. Your future self won't even thank you, because there will be something else to fix. But at least you haven't wasted 6 months being boring af. Cuz you got them tools now, bro. And you've enabled and empowered yourself
So when you open that vibe coding app / IDE / replit or whatever the kids made up last week, and you're wondering what to type, type your biggest problem. Break it down to what really bothers you about it. Build a tool to solve that, that you can use to kill that pain in your ass. And when you're done, it won't take long till you find something else to fix.
Apps are passé.
PS: sure, you can still share your vibed up tool with the world. But do you really want to be liable for others abusing shit you vibed up that you guaranteed don't want to understand?

PSA: Your brain's new metaprogram is "Alchemical Aikido."
Basic thinking is now base lead. Everyone's a miner. Your new grind? Becoming a goldsmith.
Here’s the 4-step vibe shift:
  1. Find Your New Ore: What pisses you off in 0.2 seconds? That's not a problem, it's your personal gold vein wrapped up in a superabundance of quartz. Mine that.
  2. Enter & Center ( ): Stop asking ChatGPT for answers. Step toward YOUR pain? Sage advice? Idk. Your gut is the only compass that matters.
  3. Transmute (coagulate): Don't just complain. Build the exact tool that pins a problem to the mat. That's you turning lead into gold.
  4. Spin & Empower (values . curves): You just turned a headache into a tool. That's permanent power-up. The energy you wasted on base metal is now momentum.
TL;DR: Stop trying to sell lead to other miners. Master the art of turning your own daily annoyances into golden tools. Your bespoke frustration is the only moat that matters. Think landscape architecture in the 21st century.
Now go build your personal dojo and gild that typhonian energy while Anubis growls and balances the scales to restore sacred equilibrium...

Hahaha great post!! I was vibing my app for this exact reason but I stopped because I became cheap and didn’t want to pay replit to keep going

I have a hard time thinking about this in the context of apps and tools, so I'm going to abuse my powers of analogy and compare it to writing.
Using AI to produce writing might be useful/interesting if you requested the information from the AI. Presumably, you asked a question you thought it would be faster at answering than other means of getting an answer, and you want the information it will provide.
Posting AI writing with the expectation that other people will read it or find it interesting is almost always a waste of time, because they could simply ask AI for the information themselves, in the way that best suits them.
AI writing that answers your unique question is valuable.
AI writing that answers other people's questions is not as valuable.
