I read some semi-reliable reports that a few months back, the government seized bitcoins from some exchanges.
They also set an example by executing a computer engineer because he possessed some Bitcoins, which, allegedly, could have only come from Israel. In other words, possession of Bitcoin is an evidence that you are spying for Israel.
So yeah, interest in Bitcoin from Iranians? I suspect the threat of a hangman's noose is enough to deter that.
These stories also prove why anonymity in Bitcoin transactions is more important than many in other parts of the world think. Unfortunately, as a beginner, I have been laser focussed on acquiring as many sats as possible, but not so much on the anonymity, so now I see a significant chunk of my sats are KYC polluted and some UTXOs all messed up.
