This is my re-imagining of a game that I have fond but vague memories of playing with a school friend for many hours on my Commodore Amiga way back in 1987! I remembered that the game was available in the public domain at the time on a shareware basis, but couldn't remember what it was called. Throughout making this game, I was keen not to research which game it actually was until I'd finished it, as I didn't want to make a literal clone - rather I just wanted to make something based on my memory of it from 38 years ago. I've since looked up which game we sunk all those hours into and am really pleased I did, because not only did I find the original game I remember from 38 years ago (Gravity Wars), but also a short interview with its creator, Ed Bartz, from about 11 years ago. Here's that interview about the original game... https://youtu.be/Vc_ILtL260s?si=CCJGrykMFwrEur5F and my version... https://orbitalwars.btcdir.org/

I can see how you and your friend spent a lot of time with this. It's great fun! I have fond memories of Wizards of Wor, may have even played Gravity War at some point. Love your version!

Thanks so much for trying it, and I love that you enjoyed it! Wizards of Wor must have passed me by at the time. I'll have a look.

I found a web-based remake here: https://wizardofwor.krissz.hu/
There was also a Bruce Lee game for Commodore that my brother and I played for many hours.
