“In many cases, it has led to overcrowding at specific landmarks, creating pressure on local infrastructure, and contributing to the degradation of the overall visitor experience.”
Local officials have also had to contend with disrespectful behavior from visitors who see the city as little more than a backdrop for their photos. UNESCO has repeatedly pointed out that when tourists “go to great lengths for the ideal shot,” it often results in harmful actions like trespassing, vandalism, or dangerous stunts that end in accidents.
I found this article so I could vent a little at some of the tourists I saw at the pinnacles. Some of these girls were just over the top superficial. They dressed right up in fancy dresses, heavy makeup, even going back to the carpark to change clothes to get some different looking pictures. It does my head in,but they drove many hours to go to an amazing place to take pictures of themselves. THAT was the intention, not to actually see the beautiful place.
Maybe I'm missing something but these girls seem sick. Placing the made up image they have of themselves in social media above being present in a place of natural beauty. WTF happened! Is this how you find your husband? If it is, I feel so sorry for the guy they manage to snag.
Seriously put the phone down and look around.
End rant.
