Now that the ChatGPT chatbot has been published for a while and the dust has settled a bit I think we should talk about realistic scenarios how it could change the world in the next few years.

  • Would you pay for it monthly it it was an unleashed version with no restrictions in what it answers including no censoring, next level GPT-4, up-to-date data feeded into it, linking web pages, knowing news etc.
  • Will the world become a slight 2 class society: those that use the tool and those that don't? 50k Sats isn't much but a lot of people don't pay for Microsoft Office either, aren't bothered to learn basic Python or are not paying 10 bucks for Netflix either. Those that lean into these things will be even more steps ahead now.
  • Should schools ban chat bots for homework? Do these tools hinder learning own critical thinking and structured writing (I know how ironic this is considering how rambly this post is)? Or is it even adverse selection to NOT use these tools since they are definitely available afterwards...
  • Should techie people pursue education or corporate-positions on purpose where we can leverage these chat bots hard before non-techie people catch on?

What are your thoughts?

Yes, I'd pay for it if it benefited my work.
However many people will benefit indirectly without ever having to use it themselves. Learning to write good prompts is an art but it's quite easy to catch up to the point where it'll improve your work. So I don't think it will further divide our society, even though many will benefit.

I never used it, neither i plan to in the future. If you wan to use ChatGPT you have to register and give out tons of personal info Name, Country, Age, Phone Number, it's shady af.

reply

You can sign in with Google. If you have a VPN and burner phone it's zero effort and zero data

reply

Google is the worst of all. I avoid sign in with Google at all costs. There is no reason for ChatGPT to require personal info, specially Phone Number, to sign in.

reply

There is a reason: they want less bots using the service.

reply

Add captchas, or some other method.
Asking for huge amounts of user personal info is not the way to go, they will get hacked eventually and all users info will be leaked, it's just a matter of time.

Just use fake data, a VPN and an SMS verification service, and you won't share any personal information.

reply

Too much work. They shouldn't ask for personal info in the first place. They won't be able to keep it safe, they will get hacked eventually and users info will get leaked. There is no good reason for them to ask personal info specially phone number, it looks shady and it smells shady, therefore i won't use it, even though i know it's an amazing tool, but my Privacy comes first, always.

would you use it if you could pay in sats?

reply

I would only use it if it didn't ask for my personal info on sign up. It's shady af, otherwise it's a great tool.

nope. worthless.

Have been wondering same thing, add I'm planning to implement LN payments for my chatgpt android wrapper app.

It's content creation abilities definitely provide users superhuman capabilities over Google search already.

There's no way to ban anyone using it, cats outta the bag now.

просто отпусти и посмотри к чему это приведет... если долго гадать это сделают на основе другого ИИ и именно другой будет обладать новыми ответами на новые вопросы...
