I am a devoted Conan fan. So it was with great sadness today that I learned that the beautiful painter who produced this absolutely gorgeous poster for the 1982 Conan the Barbarian movie has died.

In addition to this fine specimen, Renato Casaro also produced many other wonders, including:

Rambo: First Blood Part IRambo: First Blood Part I

A Fistful of DollarsA Fistful of Dollars

He did many other movie posters that you will certainly recognize, but which I haven't gotten around to amending yet (I've got my eye on Red Sonja and his version of Army of Darkness, as well as his Terminator 2).

Would that there were more such artists in the world.

Saw this. Yeah, what an icon.

The parody posters are also damn cool, hehe.

Well, that's a bummer, but also kinda cool at once.

His Conan imagery fueled my imagination as a kid. Legends like him keep the spirit of the Hyborian Age alive forever.
