For decades, these aid programs received bipartisan support and made a difference. Cutting them will cost lives.
In total dollars spent, the United States was the world’s largest foreign aid donor in 2023. It gave $62 billion, about the same as the next three largest donors combined: Germany, Japan, and the United Kingdom. The chart below shows the ten largest givers.

Millions of lives were saved by USAID every year

PEPFAR has likely saved more than 20 million lives from AIDS

American aid to tackle malaria has likely saved over 100,000 lives every year

Many Americans support foreign aid for health programs, but overestimate how much the US spends

I don't trust any of these numbers. In my experience and reading, most foreign aid is wildly misspent, and usually ends up propping up oppressive dictators.

I don’t believe any of this data, but that aside this is still a massive waste of money. This money should be domestic aid. I see way too many homeless people struggling to get by.
I see single mother, struggling to make rent payments or put food on the table.
We should not be sending any money abroad until our people at home are taken care of.

No. First and foremost, I don’t believe in direct taxation. It’s a form of slavery and the current state of the country reflects just that. People are strugggling just to get by with the basics and here we are sending billions upon billions of aid to foreign countries where it’s mostly wasted and stolen.
As long as WE are the ones paying the taxes, WE need to be first priority.
No foreign aid until every American (or citizen of any given country/taxpayers) has access to food, water, shelter, healthcare, electricity, education, transportation, and any other basic human needs.
