Senior.
It's sad, because he's one of the most brilliant scientists i know. He did it for a lack of time, not a lack of skill. Having his actual input on the paper would have been so much more valuable.
He seems to have developed a weird fascination for AI which keeps him from noticing some of its obvious shortcomings. One needs time to learn how to use AI well. Time he does not have.
Ah, that's disappointing. I wonder why he doesn't feel like he can just be honest and say, "I took a quick look at it, and here are a few typos, but otherwise it seems ok!"
I have some senior coauthors like that, and I honestly don't mind it. Their presence is usually helpful in other ways, without having to touch a lot of manuscript work or research work directly.
