He was, previously, not anti-Israel. In fact, he was one of Israel's biggest proponents. Most of his donations came from big Jewish donors, who apparently were funded by Israel.
But recently he had, publicly, been changing his mind. He had a debate on his big Turning Point USA convention between a big pro-zionist (Josh Hammer) and an anti-zionist (Dave Smith, big libertarian). And he was NOT supposed to have any kind of "open discourse" with people who were openly anti-zionist.
He was receiving HUGE pushback from donors on this - not his grass-roots donors, but the huge donors, mostly large foundations with ties to Israel.
Apparently what Israel was most scared of was him completely turning around, specifically BECAUSE he had previously been so pro-Israel, and could really NOT be called an anti-semite.
Here's a video with Meghan Kelly and Charlie Kirk, done a month before he was assassinated. He seems really frightened.

Thanks. Well aware of all this. No way he was a logical hit for doing any of this. If people think Kirk could turn the evangelical base in Israel they have not talked to enough pro Israel evangelicals. It's not impossible but sure isn't the first theory I would pick. What is being pushed is way more likely to me.

Not the older folks, no.
But apparently the younger conservative crowd was turning against Israel. Check this out - he organized a focus group in which he interviewed some of the leaders of local Turning Point USA chapters, and many of them were vocally against the war in Gaza. This went viral. https://x.com/charliekirk11/status/1948453973633237147

Even if Charlie was becoming more open to anti-Israel sentiment, that doesn't mean the Israeli government killed him or even had anything to do with it

Seems like a stretch and also seems like some just want it to be true. The current dude in power in Israel is not a good dude. This would seem dumb to me.

I'm not asserting that Israel did it. But the official story reeks of a coverup. And Israel does have a history of assassinations.

Sure, but some are. I think it's a weak theory. Its not that I don't think the current government there would. Just doubt they did because Kirk was PRO Israel. His pushback was pretty tame and recent. Again, not impossible. Just not the most likely to me. But that's me...

Here's some interesting recent reporting on Charlie Kirk, and what was going on in the month before his assassination with regards to his donors.
It's a longish article. Here's an overview.

A month before Charlie Kirk’s killing, billionaire pro-Israel moneyman Bill Ackman arranged an intervention in the Hamptons during which sources say he and others “hammered” Kirk for the conservative leader’s growing criticism of Israeli influence in Washington. Kirk came away fretting about Israeli “blackmail,” sources say, as he began attending Catholic mass. Update: After The Grayzone exposed the covert Hamptons influencer summit, and podcaster Candace Owens provided additional details about the event, Bill Ackman released a lengthy statement declaring, “at no time have I ever threatened Charlie Kirk, Turning Point or anyone associated with him. I have never blackmailed anyone, let alone Charlie Kirk. I have never offered Charlie or Turning Point any money in an attempt to influence Charlie’s opinion on anything.”
One of the influencers who participated in the Hamptons gathering, and was junketed to Israel an all-expenses-paid propaganda tour soon after, Xaviaer DuRousseau, released his own statement recalling how Charlie Kirk complained about “moral blackmail” during an argument over Israel at the closed-door event.

None of this surprises me. Also isn't a smoking gun. All of this is quite a distance from a threat let alone assassination.
Thing is, Israel is doing a GREAT job of alienating the young Christians without Kirk. Plenty of younger people do not follow Kirk and are being turned off by the violence. The risk of being discovered or even thought to have done this is just another nail in the coffin for US Christian support of Israel. Strategically it would make way more sense to to discredit Kirk vs. kill him.
If I see actually evidence of anything I am open. Also, I already think the Israeli government is capable of this and much worse so don't worry about that. Their PM is a crook and butcher. He should be in prison, and I know he knows this and that is a large part of why he's doing all this in Gaza.

What would you regard as a smoking gun?
There's very little chance that the "conspiracy theorists" (not being the FBI, who's officially "allowed" to investigate) will ever be able to provide anything other than huge gaps in the narrative, and internal inconsistencies, and weird things like the spy plane that circled overhead.
And the idea that the FBI is trustworthy is laughable. Just days ago they scuttled the release of the Epstein files saying, "he trafficked the girls to himself". Pathetic.
I point out a lot more of these inconsistencies in this post Why should we be skeptical of the official Charlie Kirk assassination narrative?
