It's well liked, yet fairly uncommon due to its cost. Especially since any chinese phone is so sturdy nowadays for cheap. Xiaomi is the most common brand, followed by Samsung and Motorola (see here, iPhone do not even makes it to the list). iPhones main market is within the upper classes, since it's a luxury. I personally wouldn't buy one even if I could. I do not like its "walled garden" approach.
