I want to understand why changing people is hard, especially when talking about Bitcoin and libertarianism. The importance of this for me is to educate my future children properly. So, I reflected on how I became a libertarian myself in the first place.
I am aware that this involves dealing with beliefs rather than facts, but that is just the direction. It seems to me that the process itself is the constant exposure to a particular subject.
Initially, I strongly opposed most of the libertarian views. The anti-socialist stance was what kept me consuming their content. By comprehending their concepts and finding evidence, my bias decreased. The definitive shift came when I watched a video about a citizen covering holes in the streets of a city in California. Well, wasn't the government supposed to handle that? Thus, I concluded that individuals could better manage their own services and rules voluntarily.
Most people nowadays consume bad information frequently, and I wonder if this process can explain why it is hard to open someone else's mind.
With all of that in mind, how similar to this process was the change of your (or someone else's) previous core beliefs to embrace Bitcoin or other major knowledges that redefined how you understand the world?
