Granted we need to still take this study with a grain of salt since it is the creators of the product who are releasing it so there is naturally going to be some bias. Key things of the study are
  • non-work related messaged justed to 73% in June 2025 from 53% in June 2024
  • 3/4 of conversations fell into the broad categories of "practical guidence, seeking information, and writing"
  • ChatGPT's user base had grown to 10% of the world's adult population
  • ChatGPT has had rapid growth in low and middle income countries as it has become more assessable
  • The gender gap has significantly narrowed as female adult adoption has increased to consistent with general adults demographics.
  • "Researchers argued their findings showed that, at least in the case of consumer ChatGPT, it was mostly used to help improve judgment and productivity of workers, rather than replace all their tasks, especially in knowledge-intensive jobs."
Great study
