Only Proton-to-Proton mails are always E2EE.
If you receive mail from outside, they can read it by default. If you send mail to outside, they can read it by default.
Additionally, passwords shouldn't count as E2EE. You still need to send the password in some E2EE way to the receiver. So you could have just used that way to send your mail ...
