The powers that be don't want Bitcoin to be used with relative privacy for its design purpose: money.

How is international trade, international finance, the hedging of global monetary risk, political risk, and the protection from fiat debasement... supposed to occur with Bitcoin if you're 'not allowed' to single-use addresses or have basic privacy practices???

It's like closing the barn door once the horse is already out.
