I am currently writing what all has transpired and how it is effecting Capital Hill and DC in general. That being said when I saw this I wanted to share because no one should ever make the comments that this guy did and it wasnt just one he just kept going on and on about it. Thankfully the right decision was made here.
He started by saying
"we don’t know if this was a supporter shooting their gun off in celebration"
Mind you video was already out of him clearly getting hit. This guy though continued though further stating
“He was constantly pushing this sort of hate speech aimed at certain groups,” Dowd continued. “And I always go back to: Hateful thoughts lead to hateful words, which then lead to hateful actions. … You can’t say these awful words and not expect awful actions to take place.”

There’s a real sickness of being unable to grant basic human consideration to your opponents.
It’s impossible for many to just acknowledge that someone on the other side could possibly be a victim of anything.

It is frightening to see a man who is debating with college students- exercising freedom of speech and democracy - stating his views and openly engaging minds, shot down and killed by an assassin.
But do we feel equally uncomfortable about the numerous and increasing number of drone strikes the US has perpetrated against 'enemy combatant suspects' for decades now, in breach of international law, where an estimated 50 bystanders are killed for every enemy combatant suspect?
There is no trial, no court, no jurisdiction even- just the global tyranny of US power projection into nations where no war is declared between them and the US. Hundreds of military bases globally enable these hi tech remotely controlled killings in the name of US imperialism.

This comment is so absurd and insulting. It shows a couple things. The first being that this person has absolutely no clue how most right wing gun owners handle their firearms. Over the years I have found that most anti-gun people are extremely ignorant about this. They have been fed lies from activists for years about gun owners. And related to this, the idea that a dude in the crowd would accidentally hit Kirk is insane as well. The second thing it shows is the disdain this person has for Kirk.

He just feels small compared to Kirk. He knows Kirk would have crushed him in a debate.

I think moments like these, as tragic as they are shine a light on our hearts and the hearts of those around us. They expose areas where we need work. They expose evil in our hearts and the hearts of those around us. The emotions we feel are things we should examine and consider. Christians especially need to be doing this and remember the life and words of our Savior.
