273 days left to the opening match

The road to New York carries on and new teams have already earned their tickets for the tournament. As you already know USA, Canada and Mexico will be the host countries. Then, back in March, Japan, Iran, New Zealand and Argentina joined them. Next window was held in June, where Uzbekistan (first time qualified), South Korea, Jordan (first time qualified), Australia, Brazil and Ecuador also got their tickets. Finally, in September qualifiers, Uruguay, Colombia, Paraguay, Morocco and Tunisia completed the 18 countries that are already qualified.
This is how it looks like in each continent:

Asian Football Confederation (AFC)

No action happened over this window in Asia. Next stage will be in October where Indonesia, Iraq, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates will fight for two remaining spots from this continent.

Confederation of African Football (CAF)

We are approaching to the final stages in this continent, with Morocco and Tunisia having earned their tickets recently. 7 more teams will qualify in the October window with Egypt well positioned. Cabo Verde got a great victory over Cameroon which leaves them 4 points clear in the table and causing a big upset to the Lions.

Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF)

12 teams are involved at this stage to fight for 3 spots. They are divided in three groups, where the the winners will qualify for the World Cup. After September qualifiers Suriname, Jamaica and Honduras are at the top of each group, though they all need to play 4 more matches.

Confederación Sudamericana de Fútbol (CONMEBOL)

All matches have finished with 6 teams already qualified. Argentina, Ecuador, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay and Colombia will be playing next year in the World Cup. Bolivia, after beating Brazil in the last match, qualified for the FIFA Play-Off Tournament that will behave held in March 2026. They will need to fight with other 5 teams for the last 2 spots in the World Cup.

Union of European Football Associations (UEFA)

We are still at a very early stage in Europe. Some groups have only played two matches and there will be up to four more matches in the October and November's windows. Most of the favorites are leading their groups, including Portugal, England , France and Spain. Only Germany are struggling at this moment, placed third in their group. Italy and Norway will fight for a straight spot in the World Cup with the nordic team at the top and 6 points clear (though Italy has played one match less).
In summary, 18 teams already qualified out of 48, without big surprises until now. In October, there will be another window which will clear things up.
