The best place to choose a mint: https://audit.8333.space
Or run your own if you have a LN node.
I'd totes Uncle-Jim one but that should not be a dayjob; it'll be a dayjob for a couple of months to set that up for production.

is not really necessary to run a mint for more people (uncle Jim scenario). You can run it only for yourself (not promoted) and for your family or maximum 1-2 friends.

This! I'd absolutely not promote it.
Think about this scenario I described
Your guide is awesome and was one of the sources that helped me further shape my idea on how to approach orange pilling with cashu. I'll re-read it today.

Secure service operation is super important to me, so where someone else may yolo in and accidentally rug everyone like is the trend on those hyped custodial services you see on nostr and here, I'd personally need to do a lot more work before I'd onboard anyone, even if it were only my sister, because I can't control what else anyone would use the mint for.

For this approach, I will look into a simple solution: Zeus + any good public mint, then swap (Zeus have integrated swaps too) into a "savings" onchain wallet and later opening a true LN channel and do more.
Or using Rizful node + Zeus: #904362
I found Zeus app very powerful with many options to be used: own remote node, embedded node, NWC connections, lndhub connections, cashu mints and even all together. You cannot ask for more from a Bitcoin app.

The guide is quite obsolete in terms of using LNbits with cashu mint. But you will figure it out how to use cashu mint without it. The guide is more as an example how to use a mint but nowadays we have many tools to run a private mint.
