tl;dr: I'm not good at using websites and worse at doing "stuff with computers"
There are poll options; however, don't shy away from commenting just because someone might think you're implicitly begging... feel free to contribute your interpretations of whichever option you voted for... unless you didn't even vote, and then please describe your advice like you're writing a recipe for some refurbished-lobotomized recidivist-collectivist clanker-apologist juvenile delinquent, happy to be of service yet painfully ignorant of any community's social norms.
Just so folks don't feel pressured to comment words of hollow concurrence, here are my default interpretations. Your own phrasings, whether more or less polite, could help future readers produce more effective prose, regardless of motive.
  1. LEAD the improvement efforts by doing the github thing and obviously stacking sats
  2. FOLLOW the constructive influences, build your stack and stack your WoT
  3. GET OUT OF THE WAY of this community's efforts to create an identity, and let your participatory engagement fade away from language to the electric silence of zaps (and the humble clink of cowboy credits!)
If this turns into a better place to argue about UX than IRC, then I'll declare Q3 well spent before knocking down some cute little

SN is probably fairly rich with "Leaders" and relatively short on "Followers".
I definitely encourage anyone with the creativity and ability to get involved with "Leading", but economic sustainability means holding onto and attracting more stackers who engage heavily with the product as it exists at any particular time.
reply
You nailed it. I agree 100%.
Only...
attracting more stackers
Why not attracting all kind of species? I think it's a barrier.
reply
Anyone who ends up regularly using SN is already a stacker (they just don't know it yet).
reply
That's when they end up using SN regularly. But when they are not using it, they are not. So when we say '..... Ahh ok you mean attracting those who have already signed up but not engaged heavily with the product.
reply
I'm assuming there's an inherent quality of being a stacker and it will eventually manifest in appreciating Stacker News.
reply
Yes right. Anyone can be stacker, we just can't be prejudiced. I've seen, including myself, learn a lot from SN. So, I believe anyone who's open to learning would love and praise SN.
I was thinking how we can attract new and non bitcoin people to SN and then turning them into stackers or Botcoiners (I believe both are synonymous).
Yes, the process was much simpler before the transition to "attach wallet" but it's what it is we need to find ways on how to do it.

@siggy47 and @grayruby have put more thought into that than I have. It sounds nice, but I think we're too early to land many no-coiners. Bitcoin is too foreign and scary for people still, imo.
reply
@siggy47 and @grayruby are certainly up there with much more thoughts on it than all of us together.
I agree it's still foreign and scary, but then we risk SN remaining as it is or slightly more for a long time because I don't think Bitcoin is gonna be native to everyone overnight. However I also think that SN can be a huge tool to make Bitcoin native to more and more people but it needs to open up and speed up a bit.
As a follower, I'll go ahead and do that.

If LEAD means helping us declumsify it, we'd love the help.
SN is clumsy. We're trying to do a bunch of new stuff at once and it's hard to make it work like yore stuff.

Stacker News is extraordinarily and exceptionally outstanding. Here there's no master and no slave in sight, only a fair, communal space where we all get to put our own spice into the pot. I really do respect how SN captures that spirit of inclusiveness; thanks for keeping it real and open.
