I am not sure that anyone else on SN live or works in DC but I will be the first to say that since the guard deployment I actually feel safe not only where I live (mind you many Members of Congress live here as well) but also walking to work which has been..... well a little bit of an issue sometimes.
Now this isnt a solution at all to DC's issues as they desperately need to increase the number of officers and figure out there 911 call center... the call center has hung up on people before which is just wild. This is better though then nothing.
I have coworkers from NO that have said the downtown area has gotten worse and the French Quarter has had a ton of issues recently and a lot of the restaurants and stores in the area have closed due to crime. Given it is a Dem Mayor in a Republicans controlled state it will be really interesting to see how the surefire lawsuit will play out.
Not getting resistance from the governor is probably a big part of choosing New Orleans.
That probably means cities like Memphis and St. Louis are more likely than Chicago or LA, too.

I have mixed thoughts about this. Getting control of crime is definitely appreciated but the sovereignty of the state and local law enforcement is being undermined.
Since I don’t live in these places it’s hard for me to have a strong opinion on either side.
