I'm fascinated by the Amish because they're one of the best control groups for the effects of modernity. They stopped adopting most tech around when it started accelerating a lot and when it was incomprehensible to any single person. I'm looking forward to listening to this one.

Its a fascinating subculture for sure. I once lived in an area with a large number of Amish people. They were and still are held in high regard by those that live around them. Like any group, they have their issues and things that annoy others that are different from them but we could learn a lot from them.
