I re-read Neuromancer recently, and found it quite interesting in light of all the buzz around "AI psychosis". There's a recurring theme of characters (mainly Case) not being able to tell whether they're communicating with an AI, and there's also Armitage's entire character arc... he seems the character most relevant to the current widespread deployment of chatbots. I wouldn't be surprised if there already are mental health programs similar to the one that got compromised to create him, and there are definitely people [ab]using chatbots for psychological support without any sort of organized guidance.
