Winter is over, summer is here, and I, who've been taking hot showers for years as if it were the most normal thing in the world, decided to act brave and take the plunge: cold showers.
It's all the fault of @Undisciplined, who's always posting in his accountability reports that he takes ice-cold showers as if it were the most natural thing in the world. So Saturday afternoon/evening I told myself: "If he can do it, I can too."
I changed the faucet, and there I was, standing in front of the falling water, staring at it and saying: Do I really have to do this?
I took a deep breath… and jumped in.
I didn't die because I slipped, but because I felt like I was having an Olympic-sized chill: I doubled over, I thrashed, and the cold water running down my back felt like ice blades.
But… I survived. And I've now been taking cold showers for four days straight. The result?
-
A different energy when you step out, as if your body has reset.
-
Fresher skin.
-
Immediate relief from the summer heat.
And, best of all: that feeling of having won an epic battle against yourself.
They say cold showers help your circulation, strengthen your immune system, and even lift your spirits. I don't know if all of that is true, but what I do know is that after stepping out, you feel like a champion.
So here I am, almost dying in the shower... but still alive, with chills in my soul and pride in my heart.
Is anyone else here part of the cold water club, or are they still on "team hot shower"?
