I use Lyft Black which is cheaper than Waymo in Los Angeles

If Black is too expensive then I choose Lyft Extra Comfort

But isn't the only reason they're second behind Uber because the latter decided that they needed to copy that model? I liked my pre-UberX black car service much better than all that gig worker crap. Now you land in a random city on a random continent and there's an 80% chance there is no proper service at all, only "comfort" - if you're lucky.

Uber may be #1, but that's because they are the commons now. Greed won from quality... unless one appreciates sitting in the back of a smelly Civic with a driver that can't shut up and expects a 30% tip for not abducting one for ransom.
