I think BOLT 12 invoices plus NFC, especially with inexpensive NFC stickers will help a lot solving that problem or, at least, making it much less of it.

Also, for cheaper phones which might not include NFC, I think that paying invoices through a bluetooth connection could be an option, in a similar fashion as how some points of information in museums, etc. transmit info to their customers through a set of bluetooth headset.
