I'm trying to start a daily writing practice again. During my last attempt I was trying to write on my computer. That appears to be a mistake because I was easily taken away from the writing by something else on my computer. This time I'll be doing everything in a notebook instead.
I'm not sure what I'm going to write once my writing is better, but I do tend to agree with pg that writing leads to clearer, more precise thinking. pg also says you should write about things you're uniquely an expert in. Only, I don't feel like I'm an expert in anything so perhaps I'll never write much publicly. Another path I've heard is to write about things you want to be an expert in. My problem with that is that I almost avoid expert-ism because my goals require me to be a generalist.
I haven't done it in awhile unfortunately. My wife always reminds me I should do it when I have strong feelings about something. I've also gotten bad at managing my time recently. A little too online, a little too much inbound. I need to get back to it.
Well I'd say you've done something meaningful here with Stacker News at least. Sounds like you have a nice wife too! I find it helpful to get out and go for a walk without my phone to clear my head. Words are not my release, I tend to use them like a blunt hammer - but my thoughts are freeing if I can get away and have them unadulterated. Is SN helping pay the bills? I wish I wasn't code-challenged so I could help. Your recent update with the changes to notifications was a good one!
