If a product requires an app, don't purchase the product
99% of apps should really be web-apps, accessible through a regular browser.

It's something we have to live with but in order to reduce hostility toward users software development needs to be as open and free as possible. This does not just mean FOSS but government regulations behind the scenes must not be present, including no copyright laws. Sadly these changes are not coming any time soon?

Open source only

Good direction, but it doesn't completely solve the problem. For example, there are plenty of FOSS projects out there that make ludicrous use of resources and Electrum, or that open up random ports for no reason. At it's heart this is a design problem seperate from FOSS, although most open source projects are way more aware of it than many companies.

The comment was a bit hard to follow, but the point you're making is that open source software is flawed?
Yes, it is flawed, all software is. Software is also never finished. The good thing about open source is, you know what you're getting. If you don't like it, fix it, or pay someone to fix it, or don't use it.

What's interesting is that they say that we are dealing with “software that doesn’t really care about the needs of the user but rather about the needs of the developer,” but much of this software can kind of make the dev's life harder too bc they have to manage building and maintaining a brand new service for every little feature
