Don’t throw rocks at me but I was rather disdainful of Bitcoin, thinking that it was fake Internet money that wouldn’t amount to anything useful. At that time, I became a father and was trying to get my blog off the ground so that I could have another source of income to buy diapers.
My blog never gained much traction but it attracted the attention of a social media manager from a crypto firm in my country. He emailed me and asked if I would like to be an affiliate influencer for them. This kinda alleviated my misgivings towards Bitcoin. Being a father changed my attitude towards certain things, especially when El Salvador declared Bitcoin to be its official currency.
I thought to myself: Bitcoin could be the dominant universal currency in the future. For the sake of my son, I had to jump on the bandwagon so that I could teach him the ins and outs of Bitcoin. Having my mindset changed pulled me towards acquiring Bitcoin for the first time.
Fast forward a year later. I’m frantically accumulating sats, using the Lightning Network and gradually acquiring the confidence to teach my son how to BTC. Never been glad to be Orange pill-ed because not only is the Lightning Network financially empowering, it is also fun to the max! This desire to know more about the Lightning Network led me to Stacker News, and I’m loving every minute of it. xP

I finally took bitcoin seriously in early 2018, and discovered SN through reddit r/bitcoin forum, which was pretty useless at that point.

I got rekt by shitcoins and started blogging about it but everytime I crapped on tokens a new narrative came up and I thought it was a waste of time, so I started a blog about bitcoin and used it as a way to lean more about it and share my experience, finding out more about how bitcoin works and the growing ecosystem brought me to SN

My story is not far from yours. Back then in 2017, I dismissed Bitcoin as scam. About 4 months ago, due to the severe in inflation in my country, Nigeria, I went in search of meaning for my life. Then, I stumbled on Bitcoin Magazine. Ever since, I'm currently a Bitcoin Maximalist.

I've been looking for an alternative to Reddit. I really enjoy the format of Reddit, but I decided to get off the Big Tech censorship platforms.
I'm really looking forward to the scope of SN expanding to other topics. While I am interested in BTC, there are many other topics I'd enjoy discussing on here.
Other topics? I need you to look at a mole for me. How much cancer do you need to have before you get a doctor to look at it? Why does the IRS keep asking me for gift cards? Why doesn't mtgox answer my emails? I can't login.

Keep accumulating sats (most of us do when we can), I'm (All in) mainly by choice and a bit of necessity as the central bank took "my" fiat (literally)
