What exactly is Urbit?
reply
This is their site, it's an operating system for running peer-to-peer apps

they built a new p2p computer that is intended to be the equivalent of an old Volvo station wagon.
the idea is: the computer / VM itself should be potentially maintainable by just one person. linux in this sense does not truly support “user ownership” because it’s so massive / complicated.

I'm curious what the usage stats are for all of Umbrel's apps. I kind of want download #'s plus a rating/review system similar to mobile app stores too.
It seems like they are throwing everything that fits into the paradigm on there, which is a reasonable thing to do but I find myself a little overwhelmed by all the choices they're providing even at this early stage.

Yeah is kinda mess IMO. Too many apps that noobs don't even understand and start installing them and then crying that their shity RaspPi with 4GB RAM is stuck and fucked up the whole LN node...
I found a noob on Umbrel forum that he installed all possible apps (that he doesn't understand what are for) but the most essentials for managing the LN node, didn't... /facepalm

Yeah and the thing with Urbit is, it provides a lot of functionality that overlaps with other apps. Like chat functionality for example.
