Want to gift bitcoin for Christmas?
The team and I have been working on the ability to create Christmas Bitcoin cards on our website, you can now create a bitcoin gift, personalize it to a local fiat currency, with a name, a message and be able to generate a printable Christmas card ready to be gifted.
There will be two PDF's generated which look like this -
The QR Code is automatically embedded in the PDF so your recipient can scan it with their phone and be able to claim their gift.
Me personally, I plan to use these to gift some of my family members and help them buy some gift cards on bitrefill. Especially my nephews, since they love to play video games, I can give them $25 via Lightsats and have them buy some Fortnite or Roblox credits on Bitrefill.
Also if you want a more creative way of what you can do with Lightsats, check out @StephenDeLorme who had the brilliant idea of making fortune cookies 🥠 for one of the Atlanta Bitdev Meetups.
You can do this or you could also get creative and do some Bitcoin Fortune Cookies
Any questions, feedback, concerns please give us a shout @lightsats21
ps.. the Christmas Card above is loaded for anyone to claim some free sats ✌🏼🎄
Can we have a gift card that opens a channel to the recipient?
Something like 10k sats + channel open fee (if chosen to be claimed on-chain) + 100k sats inbound for at least 1 month
reply
This isn't exactly what we had in mind with Lightsats 😅 but nevertheless it's an interesting idea!
So instead of printing lnurl-w codes on the gift card you would like to have a lnurl-channel one, is that right?
reply
Yeah. Maybe two different QR-codes, one lnurl-withdraw and the other lnurl-channel, but only one can be claimed.
Thanks for considering it!
reply
Got it, thanks for your feedback! Added it to our roadmap 👍
We'll have to see how we can fit that into the Lightsats though. Probably more relevant for more advanced users like we target with our product.

This is music to our ears!🧡
It's so amazing to hear that our product has helped you make some memorable times with family and friends.
I also have been able to use it myself with a few friends and family members who aren't bitcoiners and they've really enjoyed it as well.
Would you give us permission of sharing a screenshot of your comment on our twitter for our community to see? @lightsats21
reply
Sure thing :) I would really love to share joy with you guys since your idea will give a non bitcoiners people a whole new perspective of lightning bitcoin and how it is more than news can ever unfold. By the way i have struggled to use your Qr code to grab the bonus, will you kindly show me how to do it !

This can be a fun "stocking stuffer" for your team members or family, providing them a way to obtain some sats!!
reply
Absolutely! Just something you can do to make it more entertaining and less intimidating to family and friends!
Now that you mentioned “stocking stuffer” I may go that route for my nephews!
Maybe even turn it into a game where once they have downloaded a wallet on their iPads I can have them claim sats by doing different tasks!
reply
THAT IS SO COOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!! !!!!
reply
Thank you!
We’re also looking to allow bitcoin artists and community members to do card designs and we’d be able to allow the person funding a tip send some sats to those who made the designs!
reply
What's your template size in pixels? Where do we send it? Will it always say "Lucky Winner"? That's a little weird for a Christmas card
reply
If you want to copy it and work on that and also maybe you can join us on Discord we have a design channel - https://lgt.st/community
reply
It’s 3508 x 2480 (A4 300DPI landscape)
“Lucky winner” is the recipient name that was entered when creating this particular tip, but you can set whatever name you like when you make one.
reply
I added “Lucky Winner” as the recipient name because I left 3000 sats for anyone to claim!
But you can put any name or leave it blank!
We’re going to have a Figma file for people to collaborate in, as soon as we have it ready I’ll pass the link so you can add designs
