Our daughter tidied up all her toys so we could vacuum last night, but we didn't get around to it and she's been asking why ever since.
She declared "When I'm a mommy, I'm going to vacuum everyday!"
To which, I said "You don't have to wait until you're a mommy to vacuum everyday. As soon as you're big enough you can do the vacuuming."
So, here we are. A tiny child is slowly meandering around the house with the giant vacuum cleaner.
Excellent! Chores lose so much of their edge if kids don't feel like chores are some they have to do because the adults don't want to do it.
She's a very eager helper most of the time.
I'm not sure it was very labor saving, though, with how many times I had to help her manage the cord or switch from hardwood to carpet mode. However, it was very cute.
It starts out taking more of your time, but its some of the best time you will ever invest. Once they figure it out, you never have to do it again. I haven't emptied a dishwasher in years.
Yeah, it felt like a mini breakthrough.
Enjoy it. My daughter is still in that stage she wants to try to help with everything. Trust me, it doesn’t last.
Well, that'll be when sats enter the picture.
A stroke of genius. You managed to make her swell with pride while getting a household chore ticked off the to-do list. (Even if you have to re-vacuum later, this sounds like a win-win situation)
She was very happy and did a pretty thorough job.
That stage of childhood is so beautiful, where they want to do everything and ask about everything, that's where we as parents must guide them and have a lot of patience and love.
I think I'll do well at being patient while she learns how to do stuff.
if it's the best for everyone and she can enjoy it.
Start them young!

At first, my son was afraid of the vacuum cleaner, but now that he's grown a little, he's lost his fear and now when my wife or I vacuum, he also likes to do a little bit, especially in his room.....!!
