This rings true. Truth has this clear, hard quality that it doesn't care what people think of it. A thing is or isn't true. Lies, on the other hand, do need people to care about them. If people believe a lie it has power. If they don't, it's gossamer.
This might lead one to think that lies need you to defend them more than the truth does. And yet, it seems like the opposite is actually how things play out.
